Dome light removal (headliner rattle)

First of all, I'm very thankful I found this forum. It has been a tremendous help and resource.

I'm wondering if anyone knows how to remove the dome light in the 4Runner (highlighted in red)? I have a very pesky rattle in the head liner that stops when I press in the area highlighted in blue.

I'd really like to remove this assembly and tape/glue/cement the area that is rattling in the headliner. I have searched the forum for a fix and only came up with the headliner rattle that is associated with the sunroof which I do not have.

Any help would be VERY appreciated.

Nobody...

Nobody has ever removed this???

Sit in either front seat, pull down from the back (bottom in picture) to disengage the two friction locks, it will drop down then the front will just pull forward (away from you) as well. Then just disconnect the electrical connectors.

Your rattle may be the wiring. Foam tape may be something else you want to have on hand when trying to remedy the rattle.

Thanks for the reply. I'll try that. I love this car, but the rattle drives me NUTS as you can imagine.

Foam tape is also a very good suggestion.
