Don't be afraid to self-gift

I did it last year with the JAOS light bar and lights when I was stuck on call on Christmas. I felt much better and not a bit guilty! Anyway, I get these e-mails from a company I've bought some K&N stuff (drop in for the 'Runner and filters for the motorcycles) from before. They usually include a key word for a discount. Here's the one I received today. Tell Santa (you) that they have both the new K&N intakes (63 and 77 series) for the V8 4Runners at a good price. Plus, with the 10% off keyword and free shipping = good deal (about $225 delivered). I bought mine from these guys and was pleased. Now, just gotta get the 4Runner back from the dealership (having some warranty work done) so I can put 'er on. I don't work for these guys, just passing along a good deal and excellent past experiences with them.

Direct link to the intakes:

Copy of e-mail I got today:

Merry Christmas (or Holiday for you PC people) and Happy Self-Gifting. :D

I agree with you completely.
This year I self-gifted a new SE V8.
Best Xmas present ever!

Nice! Now all it needs is a K&N intake.

Remember, with self-gifting the size, color, quantity, type, make, brand, style, etc is always perfect. :biggrin2:

No need to wrap anything....

And no problems with returns!

Not trying to be contentious, but I tried a K&N air filter in the 911 for several years.
Honestly I couldn't tell any difference in performance on either the road or track.
I finally got tired of cleaning and oiling it and went back to OEM filters.

I bought a stainless Gibson exhaust from AJ-USA a couple of months ago. It was shipped quickly and I had no problems with the purchase. They were also as cheap, or cheaper, on the Gibson than any other place I could find ($330 to the door).

That said, be a little bit wary, as most of the feedback I saw about them on the net was negative. (Of course, a happy customer is silent, while an angry one tells ten others.)

I hadn't seen any of that feedback. Having been in the market for a high-end digital camera and reading some pretty scary feedback about some mail-order places (electronics seem to be the worse for piss-poor service and all sorts of bull-sh*t), I've been very happy with their service and price. I first ordered the drop-in filter for the 'Runner plus a couple of filters for my motorcycles. Best price I found, arrived quickly.

I had ordered the K&N intake and they actually sent me an e-mail with a phone number to call because my shipping and billing information for the CC didn't match what was on record (I had changed it a day or so earlier after I had moved), so they weren't going to send out the merchandise until I called to confirm. I thought that was a good catch on their part. Once I talked with them, the item was sent and I got it a few days later from California to Missouri.

Since I quit my full time job and my part time job is on an on call basis (USM) my wife has put the KABOSCH on any self gifting:mad:

Hey Falls,
Don't ever even imply that it's self-gifting to the wife. Over the years I've learned how to get the little lady swoon when she opens that performance chip, sub-bass, or bull bar on Xmas morning, instead of that useless cashmere sweater or stupid diamond earings.

It's all in my book....."How To Get What You Want In A Dysfunctional Marriage".
It's $39.95 on Amazon.com
