Don't buy from shrockworks

This is the second shrockworks bumper thread going on right now bashing them. Seems the only haters don't have one. When someone finally gets their bumper, they quit complaining pretty quick. I'd rather have a product with a long wait, then get something that has problems after it's installed.

Wadle has it partially right. We offer the option to put half down, so that we dont build specifically how someone wants it so that they can change their mind half way through, leaving us stuck with a grey center hoop only, when most everyone else is ordering black full tube or no tube at all...just an example. Some prefer to go ahead and pay for the entire order so that they can simply wait for the product and not have to worry about paying the other half.

As for man power, we grew into a much larger shop about 3 years ago and almost doubled our man power as well as started doing all production in house rather than outsourcing, and its about time to do it again with the amount that our sales have grown. The first half of the move we played catch up, and now we have all of our fabrication booths filled with welders hired additional help in the ware house and are full again.....so for the time being we're just having to keep the petal to the metal and do our best to keep up.

Everyone says its a good problem to have, which it is, but I personally don't like it when this "problem" creates cases like this.

Well I was never given the option of half now/ half later or asked. I also did my order online. Personally you should set up your online ordering with that option also.

Granted I knew what I was getting into, wait time, and that is why I ordered at the time I did to receive when I was ready to modify. Granted I am a seasonal self employed and it was in my abilities to pay in full as when you where getting to deliver money would be tight for me.

"When I came here to research I was looking for ONLY people that own the product and if it came on time, was it damaged, did it fit correctly without problems, are they happy with it and the durability of it."

To answer your question as a owner of a SW bumper: Did it come on time-EHH, CLOSE, BUT LATE.
Damage: Not at all and well wrapped and secured.
Fitment: Was perfect and tight.
Happy with it: yes, do to I perfered the looks of it without doing modifications to it after receiving.
Durability: Get in front of me and pray and hope I stop in time. Yes a j/k.
Very durable.

Now back to SW, JUSTIN, sense I'm a seasonal worker, and you could use some man power to help put out production for these fine people on this site that would want this bumper. How much would you pay me to come down and help zap a few welds, tweek some metal, and since I own my own big rig, deliver some of these bumpers to your customers from Texas to California?

How cool would that be.. :hatsoff:

lots, road armor, ARB, CBI, etc. SW is not the only company in the world to produce a strong bumper.

SW is a strong bumper that's been "proven" to stand up to serious impacts, but that doesn't mean the other bumpers aren't designed that well either.

SW just happens to post stories and pictures of their products having survived such impacts. This is more a case of "absence of evidence is not evidence of absence" than the other products being lesser quality.

I don't think anyone is bashing the bumper itself. It's about their business practice and lies after lies to their customer. Am I a hater because I don't have one? I think not! Who knew the shrockwork fanboys are gonna say that. Their bumper does look great but im not waiting 4+ months for my bumper. If someone can wait that long for their product more power to them. I'd rather give my $$$ to a company that can follow through with their promises.

Well that's fine. Don't buy one. But quit whining about it. Maybe try a railroad tie bumper those looks sweet.....

Defend your purchase of the bumper all you want. Because demello or cbi will just fall apart compared to the all mighty shockworks. I'm not whining just replying to your post. Don't worry shockworks won't get a dime of my money.

Anyways again this thread was not about the quality of the bumper.

I don't know how I missed this reply! Ha, I see you're the proactive type.

Tell you what, if your serious about wanting a gig in your down time shoot me a PM and we can talk details. I will warn you though, we had an employee move down here from Northern California to work with us. He got extremely home sick after living in Texas for a couple years and ended up moving back. Texas doesn't have quite the recreation that California has, so now days when it comes time for one of us to drop the other a visit I make my way up there!

You'll have to excuse our slightly messy shop, not much time for clean up lately....

yeah shrockworks makes art... and they take such good care of your products they just stack them all together so they don't get lonely.

no wonder the OP didnt get the right BL setup on his bumper, how the hell could they find the right one. I see know order tags, no customer labeling. I'd be embarrassed as a shop owner to post a pic of this manufacturing disaster area. (this was posted in the shrockworks group buy thread)

I don't know Aha; forgive me for playing devil's advocate... I mean yeah its a mess in that picture... but all the "stacked" bumpers look to be on movable racks and not haphhazardly tossed on each other and they are all bare steel, any little scuffs or scratches wouldn't matter at that point until after powdercoating... it looks like all the powder coated items are laid out individually to prevent damage. It looks messy, but not much different than I would expect. As for the customer tags, I did notice that also... for the bare steel bumpers I assume some soap stone or paint marks are there with some ID numbers, for the finished products.

haha I was wondering how long it would take someone to target this picture. :frusty:The bumpers are stacked inside one another or on racks? How do you know the bumpers aren't labeled on the inside with customer numbers?:gun4:

edit: I also laugh that you didn't post the entire message with the picture, showing the public that SW has been communicating with me and were very friendly and informative. But again cheers.

I'll gladly show you pictures of a well organized manufacturing facility tomorrow when I get back to work. you will see a major difference and understand my point of view. I also work for a private owned custom fabrication shop that started out working in a chicken house with a porter cable hand held band saw, torch and welder.

btw, any scuffs, scatches, defects in flatness of metal always show in paint after powder coat.

No need to worry, there is a method to our madness.:naughty:

No sense in sorting before powder-coat, those guys have no idea half the time what they are coating and need to know nothing other than what color what piece needs to be(in which there are tags for you'll be glad to know)

As for nicks/scratches due to "stacking", we're still talking about body armor here aren't we? We still build all of our products out of 3/16" and 1/4" plate/tube, and our power-coat shop still labels themselves a "show quality" shop. Any imperfections in the metal are gone over with a sanding disc and smoothed out before the coating process takes place.

just because its armor doesnt mean 100% of the customers would like possibly dented/scratched upon arrival product.

And this thread is done.
