According to the posting that jeep was $60,000. For $60k I would have bought something that would have crossed that river.....like a boat. Who spends $60k on a jeep?

We have lots of people moving here. I would bet my life that nearly all of them don't have a clue about the climate hazards lurking in central Texas. We live in one of the most flash flood prone areas in North America. People still challenge low water crossings regularly and lose. People also camp near rivers during the spring, when we get the cow pissing on a flat rock rains, that will flood quickly and lose.
 
Yep, every time there's a heavy rain in San Antonio you can bet there'll be more than one story of someone who drowned trying to cross a creek.
 
Some of the guys I know here in Texas have Jeep's that are outfitted as if they are on their way to Afghanistan to fight the Taliban. The favorite right now seems to be having their exteriors covered in Line-X.

That one didn't look like your typical bro'd out JK you see now. It lacked lightbars for one. But damn, you can't go two miles without seeing a lifted JKU with some combo of fuel wheels nitto mud terrains, lightbars, steel bumpers, a winch, etc. They're always perfectly clean and I know have never been wheeling. They've become more common than brodozers.
 
It's not worth $60k as it sits unless that frame were military grade and were owned by Bill Murray. Even with off road parts you insurance doesn't account for the value and I could confidently doubt there is $20k worth of parts. I didn't see diamond plating on there

And to add on the central Texas flooding... This place is not equipped to handle much rain as it is regularly a droughted area. I was in the hill country in 2007 when we got 18" in 6 hours.... That place was a mess for months. We don't get moderate rain like many other climates... We go from nothing to 20-40" in a few weeks to nothing for months and then repeat. It's annoying
