dont know where to start.

i just got my first 4runner a couple days ago... heres a little background. i got my license not too long ago my first car was a 2001 Nissan Xterra. i ended up totaling it. so my parents werent willing to buy me another new car, so my car of choice was an older 4runner, its stock except a 1 1/2" lift. it has 165,000 miles on it but had a new engine and tranny installed 14k miles ago.

so i dont really know where to start on improving my 4runner. i was reading another post and they were talking about how slow their 4runner was off the line, and they werent kidding, and some of the recommendations were getting a full service on the engine, and mine has a new engine so any other advice?

so i guess my questions are what should/can i do to make my car a little bit faster and an offroad car that i can take on the southern california trails. (new to offroading but want to be able to keep up with some friends) i have about 3-5 k to spend on any changes. any advice will help.

Los Al huh? Not very far at all(Huntington Beach.)

A full tune-up couldn't hurt, and maybe an exhaust system?

thanks for the advice. how much would a new exhaust system cost?

and im always down in huntington, and i use to live down there.

I would remove the intake silencer, does it have the 3.sl0? If so i did that to mine and it made it sound noticable cooler and made the throttle responce much better, pluss thats FREE!!!! Also if you want more proformance i'd get headers.. Oh this is my first post so...hi...

slow

YUp thought mine was slow when i got in it 4 the first time .... Best upgrades ever !!! remove that clutch fan asap im running a 10 inch in front and a 15 in the engine compartment. push pull. next the muffler got rid of that junk . and the intake.... relocate the overflow and make room 4 a front mount or a better path for air to get in there. when replaced all injectors mine ran better and stronger . make a removeable cat. thats HUGE.

Re: slow

thanks you guys for all the advice i just ordered the exhaust from LC engineering so hopefully will be getting that and putting it on soon.

Nice !!hope its worth the cash . let me know if it brings much for pwr...1:biggrin2: just put a cherry bomb in my 90 and it made a diff. sounds cool not too loud, im makng a test pipe next . it has 2 bolt flanges both ends of the Cat so just drops out fast. good luck
