Door Ajar Sensor Easy Fix

Couple days ago I was having alarm malfunction on 96 Limited.
Narrowed it down to driver side & passenger side door ajar sensors thanks to door ajar warning indicator light.
Sensors had sure spring function but internals within - contact point weren't closing circuit properly,

Simply fix if spring function is in working order.
Remove sensors from vehicle & remove their black insulator boots.
Spay "CRC Mass Air Fow Sensor Cleaner" in switch while continuously pressing , shake excess cleaner out repeat a few times.
Internal contact points will be clean malfunction no more.
Slap insulator boots back & you're good to go for reinstall.

I was wondering if they were serviceable as their is not much to them.. Good to know..

The driver door one on mine got flaky a long while back, I just picked up a replacement from the PnP yards, off a back door so it's practically unused, for free-fitty.

Nah made in China junk not dependable.

CRC cleaner cost 10 buc aleardy had can laying around.
It took me 20 min in total to remove, clean & reinstall 2 switchs.
Clean took 1 min per switch.
Well worth my time staying OEM no worries of Alarm blasting all night

That's if your local yards has any 3rd gens. I will keep these in mind to pull when I am at the yards.

They are not horrible new but if I can clean them and they work for another 25 years it's kinda a no brainer.

P&P was my orginal plan , unfortunately VA Beach location isn't Toyota 4-Run , Tacoma friendly little to none ever in stock.
They currently have 2003. It has been on lot since 8/22/22 not looking so good.

But yeah
If springs were worn out , I would go on salvage yard hunt , find & clean

When I was parting out 4Runners and selling things on Ebay, the door sensors were the first to sell every time. Second fastest item to sell was grab handles, go figure.

No I mean p/n 84231-32040 from the store. About $20 online though your local dealer may charge more
Personally I have a habit of just replacing electrical components if they're still available - might as well buy one while they still make them, right?
