Door crank, how do they come off?

Hello all,

I just purchased a 90 4runner and all the windows are hard to roll up and down. I wanted to take off the door panels to clean the tracks, but I cant get the window crank to come off. I didn

I have never seen the Toyota version of this but on American cars you push in the door panel so you can see behind the crank and there is a snap ring that holds the crank on. Maybe Toyota copied this.

There is a snap ring if you have a fork type tool it wont be an issue just pops right out can also use a flat head screwdriver. Another thing don't forget to unscrew the armrest and door handle as well. You should be able to be to get the tool at any auto parts store for a couple bucks... same tool to release the crank can be used to release the plastic clips they are usually spaced about 5 inches apart...
