Door locks

Sorry if this is a stupid question but if I have one I figure this is the place to ask...is it possible to get my runner programmed/installed so that the doors will automatically lock after putting in gear (or driving for a few secs) and also to have it where it will automatically unlock/open when you open the door? I have a 2001 limited.

@nissanh, thanks for answering..so you're saying it should already have that feature? It doesn't do it though and the manual doesn't even mention that. If my runner didn't come with that perk can it be added? I've only had it for 3 weeks and I really miss having that feature. I love my runner anyway though

I would check what is wrong with your truck. Obviously, a limited truck will have all the options a SR5 has and more. My friend has a limited and I think his truck has automatic locking system when you shift into Drive.

Check these:
If you manually lock the doors from the drivers door switch, would it look all the doors?
Look for any blown fuse. There is a fuse box on the drivers side kick panel.

Yes, when I manually lock the doors it locks all the doors...I will check out the fuses. Thanks so much for your advice. I will let you know what I find

Checked the driver's side fuse panel and no blown fuses.

I have googled and I can find information on how to DISABLE the auto locking but not how to ENABLE it. Here are some links I've found...

Have you tried pulling a locking control unit and wiring harness from a SR5 that has this feature? The wiring harness will fix perfectly into the 4 door's actuating mechanisms and the driver's and front passenger's door lock switch.

There should be a wire that get a pulse from the speed sensor.
You got kids? if so you can use the rear doors locked from inside.
