I am thinking of getting these so I can reach the storage boxes on my roof rack, are they safe to use? will I risk damaging the vehicle?

Your door latch isn't going anywhere (provided you're not over 400lbs) but I would be concerned about the bottom piece denting or scratching your door jam. I'm not sure how thick the sheet metal is in that area.

I'm pretty sure that within the first 30 seconds after mounting I would forget and slam the door on them. :mmph:
