That might be it, do I have to remove the inside door panel to access the switch?
No, just pop up the whole switch assembly. I think the front pulls up first then pull it forward.
Mine was really bad (whirring) when I closed the window without the truck runnin. I always figured it was on battery power only and was not gettin all the juice it needed.
Does your AUTO down function work on your driver's window? Mine did not but does now that I replaced the switch.

I'm bout to attempt to replace my rear left window motor. The window barely goes up or down anymore, no weird noises or anything though. Was wondering if anyone could give me any tips on the best starting point with the door panel and how to get it out without destroying anything. I'd sure hate to have a flimsy door panel after I'm done. I haven't seen a write-up for it, plan to make one when I do it.

It's not hard to change out. Just pop the door panel off and it's pretty easy to see how it works. I was kind of bummed to see how simple it was. I was expecting something cooler lol.

Hmmm... you replaced the switch and the buzzing stopped, or was there an issue with the auto down feature? My driver's side is making noise on the way down and needs a motor. Did you replace the motor and the switch to get yours fixed, or just the switch?
door trim removal
replacing a window motor is really easy
first remove one Phillips head screw from the middle of the door handle.
slide the handle forward
Remove the window switch. It pops right up from the front
remove the arm rest. It just pops up
Remove two more Phillips head screws from under the armrest.
Peal the door panel from the bottom up . Fish the door handle thru the opening. No need to remove off bar.
once the trim is outa the way, peal back the plastic wrap. but dont remove it.
Mid way up the door on the closest side that bolts to the truck is 4 10mm nuts.
remove them and the window will slide down allowing you to remove the window motor.
unhook the wire harness
slide the new motor in
attach 4 bolt to motor.
test
and reassemble

Changed it out today. Pretty straight forward. Thanks BiggJerry for the help. One thing I forgot was to put the roller back in the track. Had to unmount the motor to do so.
ok, so now my issue. It helped, but it's still slow. I raced both rear windows and it lost pretty bad. I don't have to aid it up with my hand though. I bought the motor from a wrecked '97 4Runner. Is it safe to assume that it coincidentally might be going out as well or do I need to look elsewhere.
