Hey fellas, my rear driver side door was opening fine the other day, I didnt drive the truck over the weekend, went to hop in today and take my dog for a ride and the R D S door wont open. It unlocks but neither the inside door handle nor the outside handle will open it. Any ideas?

edit: Is it normal for the lock mechanisms to seize up?

It's not normal but it happens.
You have to take off the inner panel, which is near impossible with the door closed.

can you get the window down?
is so then roll it all the way down and use a coat hanger and pull the handle rod as far to towards the front of the vehicle as you can it should open if the mechanism is ok then just adjust the rods so they pull the right amount when using the handles. then spray it down with MMO then WD40 to clean it up and lubricate it.

if it doesn't work you'll have to take the hinges off then prop the door up but open as best you can to take the inner panel off and remove the mechanism to take the door completely off then you can fix the issue with the door on some saw horses and reinstall to the vehicle.

Just don't do what the PO of my 92 did when he had this problem, and that is break out the torch and cut a 6" x 6" square out of the door and then tac weld it back on. I haven't personally had to try it, but if nothing else works, you might be able to remove the seat on that side and then get the lock side of the door panel pulled back enough to get in there and pop the lock.

Glad to hear you got it open. You might consider pulling the door panel off and lubricating the mechanism in there. Ours was dry when replacing the regulator and window motor.
