I'm interested in pics and process as well. I got a set of fj struts that I want to put on the front to level mine out more. Never done suspension before. If the struts and springs are already assembled, would it take me 2 and a half per side still? Was hoping I could just swap out the old for the fj struts and get an alignment. Sorry for the hijack

Little late to this but hope all went well with the install. If you can take measurements and add them to my list in the link in my sig (last one).
Harvest4runner: if you've never done suspension, I'd count on it taking about 4-5 hours. Another member and I did mine, it was our first time. He'd messed with suspension some, but we were both new at it. First side was very similar, about 3 hours. Second side was done in about 45 minutes. Once you figure everything out, it's a breeze. The front FJ springs are side specific. I mounted mine backwards (taller one goes to drivers side) and we had to swap them. It took us under two hours to swap them, it made a ton of difference when we knew what we were doing.

The install ended up going pretty well! I can't really tell how bad my alignment is after loosening the lower control arms... it's so easy to do with those LCA's out of the way! I tried to do a "rough" alignment by putting the hub-surface vertical under static load, but I won't be driving it much until my alignment appointment on Saturday. I can already tell that I absolutely love the improvement in ride quality!!
Total times...

Total lift (pre-alignment)...
> Front w/ Toytec 1/2" spacers = 2.5" left, 2.375" right

By the way, the front of the tube steps is 0.125" lower than the rear.

It looks like you've got the Spidertrax installed as well. Did you do the normal trimming (fender and liner)?

You might want to consider new UCAs also. Light racing are really nice and very adjustable to help get that stock ride/feel back after lifting.
Looks a little low in the front from the picture. Was that your intention? Are you going to adjust them up a bit in the front?

Thanks guys! After a short test drive, I really like it compared to stock! It was really noticable when I drove it up and down the street with just the fronts done... it made the back feel like I had about 5 psi in the rear tires!

I normally do... this was in "Park" and the e-brake was fully on. When I did the rears, the fronts were definitely chocked.
Yup... Spidertrax installed! Love the look! They do rub a little and I haven't had a chance to do any trimming. I'll get to that this week and will document the trimming that I do.
I think that I'll be ok without new UCAs... I will know more after my alignment on Saturday. My goal was to end up with the front of the nerf bar about 1/2" lower than the rear of the nerf bar. Ended up at about 1/8", but I'm expecting the front to settle a little. I like a slight rake... especially with the overall shape of the Gen4.

I have to say that I absolutely love the way my 4Runner rides with the FJ coils. After getting the alignment done yesterday, I haven't wanted to get out of it!!
I'll get my write-up done this week and report back on my final lift numbers.
