Ok, Im looking to put in a dble din in my 06 SE, It does not have the JBL. Im also looking to put in some headrest monitors and a camera. My question is.. Id like to get the best bang for the buck on the headunit. I have not had any dealings with car stereo equipment in the last 3 years or so, so Im sure the technology is a whooole lot different now. Ive read about some head units being integrated for use with the Iphone. Is there any units out that I can utilize my droid X with????

Most high end headunit are bluetooth audio capable and would connect with the droid. If youre set on double din id say to look at getting a nav unit. Ive seen a few for sale here in the classifieds section.

Be careful, most that say bluetooth compatible only transmit calls. These will not do audio. Some will, but most won't. Other than that, really it becomes up to you to narrow down features. Nav, bluetooth (and type of support), DVD, screen size, etc.

I'm not sure about pandora, but you won't need it if you can stream music from your phone over bluetooth... you'll like that a lot. You could stream pandora from the phone.

They are high, just remember you're getting the radio, adapter to fit the opening (even though I prefer the metra unit), and the wiring adapter with it.

with a little searching on the board (there was a thread about it a few days ago) you can find the metra part numbers for wiring and side adapter plates and get them locally at your radio-installer nearest you.

Hey sharpshooter, i went through the same decisions you are going through last friday. For a new headunit i went with the pioneer 3300bt. If you have a droid, just use a aux cable to hook it to the unit. Otherwise the 3300bt is an excellent base to get your whole in-car entertainment system wired-up. It's very easy to install by yourself. (my thread for that is here: http://www.toyota-4runner.org/4th-gen-t4rs/91414-urgent-need-help-installing-pionner-p3300bt-headunit.html )

As far as headrests go, this is the thread i started for that: http://www.toyota-4runner.org/4th-gen-t4rs/91473-headrests-screens-them.html
I'm hooking up a xbox 360 to these too, and all three screens will be able to play the same dvd at the same time! All the details on these can be found in these two threads i linked above. As of this writing, i'm still waiting for my headrest screens to come in the mail. I'm hoping they are here tomorrow, if not early next week. Either way, i'll post pics in my headrest screen thread. Good luck with your decisions! It's a fun, easy project to do!
