Downhill Pinging Noise HELP

I have an issue with my 3rd Gen (2000) when 4wheeling downhill. When I am in 4 Lo and creeping I will hear a fairly loud ping that seems to be coming from the drivers side rear end. I can feel a vibration in my feet, and it does seem to be on the drivers side (however that is the side I am obviously sitting).

I have only added a Sonoran Steel lift kit and various other minor upgrades. I do not think it is tire rub because it is much louder and I see NO rub marks inside the wheel well.

Any ideas on this? Thanks in advance!

Just wanted to say, I really like your rig! Sorry i don't have a solution to you problem but I have a few questions about your lift and tires. How do you like the ss1.2 system? Do you have your front set at 3 or 3.5" lift? Any rubbing on the front with the ProComps? I bought the same tires when they were on sale and now I'm trying to decide on the right lift to purchase! Any help is appreciated!

I appreciate the props! I have had no rubbing on the 285's however it is a tight fit on the arms in the front. I am in the market for some spacers to widen my stance and allow for some more space between the rubber and the strut.

The lift kit is awesome, easy install (fairly) and performance is great. If you can live with the back being taller, it is an extremely capable kit. The 7.2 system is a level kit but the rear spring is not as durable as per Steve at SS. Overall I have been very happy.

Search 'hulk' on the forum and you can see some additional pictures of my truck.

Thanks for the info! I know you have a Shrockworks front bumper, but is your front set at 3 or 3.5"? I have a stock fat lip front bumper. Just curious if my cv's would be too extreme with the front set at 3.5" with my stock bumper.

For a 2000, not a 2001, the 1.2 kit lifts you 3.5" when the struts are actually set at 3" if that makes any sense. The 2001 has a 1/2" higher stock suspension so it only lifts the truck 3" from original height. I would recommend keeping the struts set at the 3" mark, if you purchase the top plates from SS (which I recommend for ease of installation--you dont need a spring compressor) then he will have them pre-set at this height.
