Downshift issues_06 4.0

Has anyone experienced downshift to 1st issues? It only happnes during abrupt stopping. The truck sticks in 2nd gear or whichever gear it was in until after I let off the brake to start rolling again. I get a bad downshift during aggressive acceleration sometimes too. I had a drain and fill done, but no change. Haven't scanned for codes, pretty sure need dealership scanner for TCM...
maybe a valve body cleaning/replacement?

You must live in a flat place if you only have it happen in 2nd gear. We really should have a sticky on this; but it is 100% normal. It is TRANS ECU nanny action, designed to help slow you down when it senses an abrupt deceleration. The added trans/engine braking can help stop you more quickly without losing control at the wheels.

That said. It is darn annoying. I live in the mountains and drive aggressively. I have this happen ALL the time. 3/4 gear will go it as well. Not sure about 5th.
