Downtown Toyota Toronto

Bought an 06 ltd just before christmas. Great experience. Worked with a guy there named Ike. Really felt like he was on my side-pushed management hard to bring price down to what I wanted. Truck still needed to be conditioned since it had just been returned off a lease. There were a few things I wanted them to do to make it look nice. When I picked it up it literally looked like it just came off the assembly line.

As if that wasn't good enough, I used my Ipod Roadtrip for the first time the other day and plugged the audio cable into the aux jack. When I turned the radio on there was a distinctive whine that got louder when the engine revved. I unplugged the ipod form the roadtrip and no whine. I thought, oh well, guess I can't charge my ipod while I listen to it. Drag. Decided to do a search here and sure enough many had this issue and got it fixed under a Toyota service bulletin. Called downtown toyota to see if they would fix it for me (even though mine is well past warranty). No problem, but I would have to bring it in during the week because the service foreman deals with warranty issues. Told them I was a teacher, so I would have to wait until March break, but that was not a big deal. Then they say "Could you bring it in Friday if we give you a courtesy car". A courtesy car. To fix a minor problem not covered under warranty for free. Thats what I call service.

That IS service! Can't say that you hear of such support very often from dealers. I bought an '06 Ltd 4x4 V8 from the States, North Carolina just before Christmas. I checked out Toronto first as I live in Ontario. I probably checked your vehicle out on-line when it was for sale. Can I ask what the damage was? I paid $22500 US. However, adding all taxes, flight to NC, gas, hotels, duty and RIV charges, the final cost was $29000. The vehicle is immaculate, one lady owner, full service records, never used for towing, 48k miles, 78k km. I bought it from a Mercedes dealership where the previous owner traded it in. The final coincidence is, I'm a teacher too!

I MAY have to edit my post above, as the woman who booked my apptmnt called me back to say that the Toyota Service Bulletin applied to US vehicles, and the shop foreman was going to have to make the final decision on this on Monday as he was out of the shop Thurs. and Fri so we'll see. I paid 28,000 all in, but it does have 100,000 km on it. It seemed like a reasonably good deal (I made an offer and stuck with it), but I probably could have saved myself some $$ going to the US. I wanted the piece of mind of a warranty and certification from the dealer (they put new tires new breaks and conditioned the interior and exterior to near mint). This vehicle never showed up online as it had been brought in off a lease the night before I bought it and my buddy Ike called me up to get me in pronto. He told me it was lady driven mostly highway, which I took with a grain of salt, but I found an old insurance stub in with the manual and it showed her home and work address and sure enough her commute would be a lot of highway driving during off peak hours (she owns a high end furniture shop, opens and closes after rush hr.)

Is that a Volvo cargo carrier on top of yours? If it is, I have the exact one, but in black. Previous vehicle was a 98 V70.

The rack is a called a "SportRack Expedition" from Canadian tire. Nothing special, I just needed to buy something quick to load up skis for a Xmas vacation. It works well. Should have cost 650 but I got it on sale for 300. The Thules were sold out.

Post some pics of your T4R if you've got the time. I'm marking math papers this weekend. That's why I'm on-line!!

VERY NICE! :trophy:

Glad to see that there are still dealers that understand Customer Service and Customer Satisfaction and breaking themselves away from the "stealership" moniker.

Update-

Unfortunately I have to retract the 2nd part of my original post. Here's what happened. I got an automated call confirming that I had an appointment. I thought I better call to make sure everything was cool and sure enough Laura (the apptment booker) said she still needed to talk to the foreman. If I had brought the truck in and found this out I would have been pissed. She never called back to let me know what the final decision was, so I finally called today and she said "oh yeah, let me go ask about that and I'll call you back" Leaves a message saying they can go ahead and do it, but I will be charged parts and labour and no courtesy car :(

This experience=bad taste in my mouth

Update #2

Shot off an email to Toyota Canada and told them the whole story:violin:. Got a call from dealership this afternoon expressing how sorry they were and that they would take care of this fix free of charge and supply me with a courtesy car:p.
