Drag strip adventure

I'll let the attached spreadsheet do most of the talking. However, I must mention that this was my second drag event ever, and the temps started off at 54*F, and dropped to around 45*F by my last run. It's all stock, except for a K&N drop-in filter, if it matters :p I'm bummed that I redlighted myself out of our private bracket on that last run  Take note that I braked before the lights when pulling that 15.5@75mph...

Didn't take anything out, and I left the spare in because I think I'd be better off having that extra weight behind/over the axle; open diffs suck :)

I left the auto in in 3, so I was somewhere above 5k RPMs crossing the finish. I felt that it was probably better to let it wind all the way up instead of shifting right before the end. I could've manual shifted, but I was bracket racing so I wanted to let the PCM do all the work for me.

On the first run I just torque braked as far as it would go, but the T/C completely shut the car down, then let me go. After a while I started brake torquing to 1250-1500 RPMs, then let it go and the launces were pretty decent (2.19 60' as my best). The T/C really helps the car launch good when you do your job correctly :D

Nice times for being almost all stock. Forgive me for being a dumbass but, is torque braking when you hold the brake down while you rev up the engine in D?

Good times! Looks like you are about even with a stock VVT-i 4WD V8

What are the advertised HP and torque ratings for the newer V8?

Yep

Interesting... always wondered what the V8s would run. I wonder what the VVT-i V8s will run?

If the 4runner actually gets the new Toyota 5.7L V8 w/ 381hp that would be insane... but I doubt that's gonna happen.:(

I took my little 06 Audi A4 2.0T 4-cyl to the track this past summer and ran 3 times with a best of a 15.1 @ 93. Funny thing is it feels faster than my GS400 did which ran a best of 14.7 @ 97.

I'll never run our 4runner though since it's a V6 and it's primarily my wife's car and she'd kill me.:(
