drain by oil filter in V6

does anyone know the part number for the plug that is used on the V6 by the filter to prevent old oil from draining onto the engne block. Last oil change I dropped mine and like so many other things in this world it vanished. I know its not an important part, I could probrally get by with some electrical tape for the short period of time it's needed. But I just need the truck complete. Thanks in advance, Pete.

I looked at a 2003 parts list and didn't see a separate part number for it. The filter bracket for the V6 is part 15671-31010. That's as close as I could come.

Once I have removed the old filter, I use a shop rag or paper towel to wipe up any old oil that hasn't drained into an old oil container I wedge under the drain tube to catch the runoff. As long as the new oil filter o-ring doesn't leak, you shouldn't have any oil leaking on the engine. I haven't had mine for several years now, and because of its locatin I doubt anyone but me knows it isn't there. Except for all of you I just told.

good replacement plug

I read your post and out of curiousity i looked at it with a mirror. It seems that a simple rubber vacuum port plug from "Help" (those small parts in the red packages at parts stores) should do the trick.
