Dreaded headlight aiming 08’ 4Runner

Here are a few pic before adjusting or at least with what I thought was adjusted
Here is just the head lights, no fog lights
Here is headlights with fog lights on. The fog lights are halogen, low beam are 5000k
Here is with low beam and high beam on. High beam are halogen.
This is just low beam on with a bright LED spot light on. The photo as you can see better that the lights are on, with out the camera everything is kinda dim lit and drowned out by the street light.
This is what I’m seeing. Maybe my expectations are too high, but almost anyone how sells HID kits, good brands or cheap ones claim HID are 3x brighter than halogen and LED bulbs are slightly brighter than halogen bulbs. What I’m seeing is no different than halogen brightness if that.

Ok so , aim is a lot better. Could need a little tweaking on the vertical. However in the end, it just doesn’t seem bright enough. Unless I use the fog lights then those take over .
Things I noticed on the road with other vehicles heading my way. My headlights are brighter compared to yellow lensed halogens, but not nearly as bright as most modern vehicles with LEDs. Brightness seem to be on par with a semi.
I’d figure that with OEM head light assemblies, It wouldn’t be perfect but would have worked.
Aim is good but still in the dilemma if it is the bulbs or the headlight assembly.

when your aiming the lights, use the lower cutoff line as the height, dont use the upper one,
so more tweaking, lower cutoff for you try it at 33 inches, and lowest would be 32.5. see if that helps.
also your bulbs dont look like its in correctly, are you using h11b bulbs? the hotspot looks a little off.
also are your lights original toyota, or is it aftermarket, check the headlight lenses. oem should say koito.

I’ll try that that little tweak. The bulbs are H11. The headlight are original, even though this car was in a head on/t-bone 4 months after purchasing in 08’ The back of the headlights says Toyota( block lettering) Koito ( in a recessed script/italic font).
A lot of time passed that I have to find the pictures of the accident to even see if the headlights even got damaged. It was low impact, but luckily didn’t hit the crash bar to send the air bags off. Uninsured motorist, and the insurance company let me make the call with help from a friends dad who is a well know body and frame man in my area. Sorry to degress.

if the bulbs are all good, i would suspect burned bowls, your hot spot is not in the correct area. or the bulb is not aligned.
That is the million dollar question. I would hate to replace headlight assemblies only to find out my bulbs are the culprit and vice versus

this is now the question is to just bake them apart and do a retrofit.
even though the housing lens might not be that good after a buff, it still come back.
you can still use your ballast, just need adapters for the bulbs your using, amp to d2s if using projectors that take d2s bulbs.
its not that hard to do.
Ok, might have to try that or just replace the housings. I did have a revelation yesterday, my wife mentioned to me before I switched to HID’s, she was having this problem even with the halogens and after a cleaning the outside lenes. It is something that I honestly I didn’t remember, but I wasn’t the one driving this truck much.
