So Im considering a head gasket job in regards to the collant dripping off the back drivers side corner of my motor beteen the head and the block. After seaching around I haven't found much more insight than the "good luck with the huge job." Anyone have anything a little more useful than that? Thanks

I've never done one on my 4Runner, but did one on my 95 Monte Carlo a few years back. We had help from a mechanic, and it was still a pain in the ass! We had to take apart everything from the top of the engine to the head gasket. Take lots of pics, and mark and label everything so re-assembly is easier! There's alot of parts, and have to be assembled in a specific order. If I were you, and had the cash, I'd farm that work out. If you are on a budget, buy a Haynes manual, and try it yourself, but I'd try to get someone is mechanically savy to help!

Good luck.

X2 on let a mechanic do it if you can...they are just set up better with the good tools and knowledge. But if you have to, make sure you give yourself plenty of time and go very slow. Keep everything very clean and you can't over label! When I did my valve covers, I even used my phone's video function and took video of the engine compartment as I went...turns out it came in handy even for that small job!

Its not a hard job its just very involved. There are a lot parts that need to be removed but if you go slow and lay everything out in order as it comes out you should be good.
