My son's 4runner has had a vibration from the front end for several months now. A shop he took it to said his tie rods were loose.
So the other day, he's driving to work, and the vibration suddenly gets to a point where the truck is undrivable. So we tow it home, and he pulls off the tire the next day, and the cv boot on the driver side is just grenaded.
I'm assuming the cv joint was the cause of the earlier vibration, and then it failed and tore up the boot...
So I guess we'll just change the whole axle out, but I need to know what's involved in doing this. I've never done this before, but I'm pretty good with fixing stuff as long as I have good info.
I was going to post pictures in here, but I don't see the option for doing that. (maybe 'cause I'm a new user?) But here is a link to another forum where I posted pics: [Help] Multiple issues - dslreports.com
