Drive shaft clunk on 2wd

Yo, my peeps,

So I know this topic has been beat to hell, but I mostly only see it on 4wd 4Runners. I have an 05 2wd V8 and I get that drive shaft clunk when I’m slowing down and then accelerate again. Feels like someone is rear ending me. I know the 2wds don’t have any zerks to lube on the drive shaft, I’m just curious if anyone has found a workaround to this issue on theirs or if I just have to live with it?

Don't know how many miles (or maintenance history) on your 05, but you might want to see if you have a bad u-joint...OR...maybe excessive wear in the differential...excessive backlash?

185,000 miles. No records of drive shaft maintenance or anything from the previous owner, but I thought maybe a trip to my mechanic or the stealership might be a good option. Thanks for your reply
