So here's an easy one, how can tell what rear drive shaft i need for my 2000 limited v6 4runner?

Tape measure! Measure from t-case output flange to pinion flange. That should get you started. Unless you added dual cases or massive lift, most if not any driveshaft from your gen should work.
What happened to you driveshaft???
