Driver door .. key does open driver door only

Hi,
my 4runner opens only the driver door when I turn the key there. On the passenger side it opens all doors. I think even on the driver door it opens the lock electrically, not 100% sure.

What part do I need to replace?

Thanks Martin

I ONLY HAVE A KEYHOLE ON MY DRIVERS SIDE..none on passenger side?..05 sr5

You have a 4th gen. I assume they're all like that.

My 2010 Matrix only has a key hole on the driver's door and hatch.

With the advent of key-less as a standard feature, there's no real purpose to having key tumblers on all doors.

Thanks for the replies

I tried the trick with turning the key 2 times- but nothing.

I figured that the knob is lifted manually/mechanically (not electrically).
This means that the electrical part doesn't work, NO power lock for opening!
However when I lock the door with the key it locks electrically and all locks are activated. Central locking works only when closing but not for opening.

What is wrong and what parts do I need to get the central locking back?

You're doing the key turn with a quick 1-2 succession, correct?

From the Owner's Manual:
LOCKING AND UNLOCKING WITH
KEY
Insert the key into the keyhole and turn
it.
To lock: Turn the key forward.
To unlock: Turn the key backward.
Vehicles with power door lock system—
All the side doors and back door
lock and unlock simultaneously with either
door. In the driver’s door lock, turning the
key once will unlock the driver’s door and
twice in succession will unlock all side
doors simultaneously.

Maybe your key tumbler is gummed up? A little WD40 and try again?

Hi Jeremy,
do you know the part number of that switch that might be suspect at the driver door?

The weird thing is that locking works normal...just unlocking does not.

If it is the same swicth that does both then something is odd.
