driver door lock freeze but pass doesnt?

My lock has been sticking lately since its been cold.The key goes in but doesnt turn to unlock.Will lock deicer fix that?is there a way to repel it for the future???i heard wd40 but doesnt wd40 rust the insides of the lock over time?

WD40 is not for locks. No lock should be oiled, you should use graphite instead since oil will gunk up over time.

I WD-40'd one of mine because it was sticking, and its been over a year and there have been no obvious reprocauitons.

hi,i used graphite already and it still freezes.any other suggestions?should i just go buy some de-icer?

If it's freezing and not just sticking, then yeah, de-icer should do it.

Old trick is to hold key over a flame, get it hot, and then try to work the lock. Easy in a garage, kind of a challenge in a blizzard. Get it working, and hit it with the graphite lube.

I wouldn't use WD-40 either, but it is amazing the number of locksmiths that love the stuff--probably because it's a quick fix and they don't worry about what happens after.

well my key goes in like butter but it wont turn all the way very frusterating to have use the passanger door to unlock

Ironic, when my car sits in the sun and gets too hot, the locks stop working unless I manually use the key. Get's really god damn annoying in the summer
