Drivers front seat to high

The drivers front seat on my 04 SR5 4runner doesn't go low enough. I'm 6' and when the seat is at the lowest setting my vision is still not centered in the middle of the windsheild. Went to Raleigh auto show this weekend and tried out the front seat of a lexus SUV almost the same chassis as my 4runner, had power seats of course, and it lowered to a perfect position. Anybody else noticed the seat sits up to high?

That lexus may have the same chassis but the body is totally different and that is where all that extra headroom comes from.
 
Yeah toybox is right. The GX270 is on the same chasis, but it has a taller body (3" taller) so you get some extra head room. Check the numbers on the Lexus and Toyota sites...

You made a good choice of vehicle.
 
I've found that sitting lower makes it harder to see the instrument panel and have become quite accustomed to looking down on the hood rather than across it. In any case, I used to recline the seat back in smaller cars where the headroom was scarce and the seats didn't adjust up or down.

I go to the RTP area 3-4 times per year on average....will have to watch for you. Although I usually stay in the Crabtree area to get away from RTP.

I have the same problem, and I'm 2" taller than you. I 'do' wish the seat went down a bit more.

I wonder if there IS a way to modify it to allow it to go a little lower?????


I recline the seat a bit, but ALSO took off the 'main' sun visor, which obstructs about an inch of visibility, and now just use the very slim secondary visor if needed. It made just enough of a difference to really help.
 
I have the same problem in my '03, but I have learned to adapt. I have a sun roof, so I leave the inner roof pannel open, it gives you a couple extra inches. But for as centering yourself in the windshield, I can't think of anything to help short of reclining the seat back some.
 
SAC State I live in a subdivision right behind Riverside High School Where do you live? By the way where did you get your Borla exhaust? How much?

Moved the rear inside Mirror too...

My inside rear mirror blocked a lot of my forward vision too. It's pivoted up, as far as it can go...but still kind of in the way.

I considered taking it off, but I've tried something else for now.

I was able (barely) to rotate it If you're careful, you can twist it so that it's upside down. It gives you about an extra inch..of visibility. Yeah, the darken button (daytime/nighttime button) is on top now, but the added visibility is worth it.

Isn't it the GX470? I've never heard of a 270.

Paul, I live in a new development near Southpoint. Small world, eh?

I bought my Runner with the Borla already installed. The dealer was Fred Anderson (Raleigh) and the Borla is a port option DE10 is the part #.

Jharris, I work in RTP. I also know Crabtree well. Or Crabtree mall well.
