Driver's side air conditioner not as cold

I have a 2007 V8 with 118k and recently noticed that the a/c on the drivers side is not as cold as the passenger side. I don't have dual climate control so any idea what what to check? Also my cabin air filter isn't that old but i checked it anyway and it is still pretty clean

Could either be blend door actuator failure or low refrigerant. Most likely low refrigerant, could be a DIY add with one of the cans from auto parts stores but like most things to do it right you need much better tools and AC equipments not cheap. At a real shop they will evacuate the system, pull a vacuum on it, check for leaks, advise true repair, and refill properly. But adding a bit of r134a might be a good bandaid.

spot on, my money is on low gas. you could invest in a manifold guage, read the presures on the low and high side, should be between 35 to psi on low side and 180 to 250 psi on the hiside, depending on your ambient temps. top up with refrigrant if not so. though you have a leak somewhere in the system, if problem reoccurs within 6months, best to have a shop try to locate and fix the leak

If i need to add more r134 should i have the pros do it or are those diy cans easy to use?

They're relatively easy to use, especially if you have a little bit of knowledge/experience of auto AC systems....but I'm guessing you have never done anything to an auto AC before except turn it on so in this case I would say let the Pros do it, they can test everything and know for sure exactly what it needs, on the other hand if you do it even reading and following the instructions on the DYI recharge kit/s you could still possibly overcharge or undercharge the system and think everything is fine but you will not really know for sure or the condition of the rest of the system, taking it to a Pro you'll know for sure the condition of the system and what to expect from it in the future.
