So, I bought a 1998 4Runner, and the drivers side front and rear speakers/tweeter dont work. I replaced the deck, with another factory deck. No Dice. Fader/balancer is not to blame. I took the door panel off, and everything is in fact hooked up. What do you think could be the issue? Could they both be blown entirely? not likely without some crackle or something. Passenger side front and rear works.

Take a small battery and try the wires on the leads briefly , should hear some static . If they are ok then it might be the factory amp behind the h/u.

I didnt get the amp but im having the same issue with both decks. the cd player was faulty in the old one, and its the same exact unit. I will test the speakers and go from there. i assume the wiring to the drivers side is at fault, as the whole side is out...

I bet its the amp

Did you ever figure out what was wrong? I have had this in my 95 as well since the day I bought it and have not been able to pinpoint what is wrong.
