Driverside grab handle addition

Not sure if it's widely known but there are threaded holes on your driverside to fit a grab handle like the one on your passenger side. I have an extra one for $20 plus shipping if anyone wants one.

Yup... I did this on my '01. I think Ripcord followed suit with his as well.

Just FYI though.... $20 is a bit steep. The handles are $12 new, and the screws & covers are a couple bucks.

Anyway, I added this handle as well and I've been happy with it. I've only hit my head on it once and it's the perfect height to rest my smoking hand on. Someone should grab this from CJ.

Was going this route as well, I smoke and hate the placement of the stock handle, would MUCH rather have a pillar gauge, so 2 questions:
1) what were your choices for pillar gauge (I do own an Scangauge ii)
2) how do you find those holes, just poke along with a needle?

I know that I can feel and sorta see the holes just rubbing my finger over where it should be, it's one of those things I didn't notice till I was told about it. So you can look a bunch, and not see it till your looking for it.

i want to do this as well only for the purpose of symmetry. what was used to make the holes in the headliner? why buy a new one when one could be had from a salvage yard? $12 isn't bad for a new part, but it's just a handle. are junk yard ones expensive?

Look in the classifieds for part outs or you can try local yards for sure.

As far as what to use to punch the headliner? I just stabbed my Phillips head screwdriver through the liner and wallered it out some....screwed right in.

after feeling through the headliner to locate the existing threaqed holes, I simply used an Exacto knife to make a small x-shaped slit over those holes, merely enough for the fastening screws to penetrate the headliner

Med Oak - made of unobtainium?

74610-35020-E0 appears to be the part number for Med Oak, my interior color. But my searches seem to be indicating that is now made out of "unobtainium".
Checked on ebay, google, etc... No joy.
