Driveshaft Behavior Check

So I did some maintenance on my 07 (2WD) 4Runner yesterday and now when I go into reverse or drive gears I hear a clink (probably the normal clink though) and sometimes a grinding noise. I think the grinding noise is related to the rear brakes, which I cleaned with brake cleaner (and flushed them a few days earlier).

I then got under the car as my brother put it into reverse and drive, and saw that the driveshaft enages and rotates 10-20 degrees when it is engaged (opposite directions for reverse vs. drive). Is this normal?

I think the driveshaft rotation is putting a preload (directional) on the rear brakes which cause them to squeak a bit, but I also don't understand why cleaning them a bit would cause that as well.

Any ideas?

Thanks!
