Driveshaft lube

I know, I know, there are a million threads on this subject, but I can't find anything that really pertains to my question.

So, I pulled the trigger on a grease gun and two tubes of the two types of grease recommended for the driveshaft on my '97. Moly and just plain lithium. Anyway, I'm noticing that a lot of people use synthetic.

I've already loaded one cartridge into the gun and hit the u-joint zirks. I was wondering if I can unload the tube in the gun, clean it out, and use the same gun for both types of grease? If not, can I clean out this gun and just use synthetic because it's easier to just use one type? I really don't want to go back up to AutoZone and buy another gun.

Seems silly, I know, but I don't want to inject remnants of the wrong type of grease into the wrong zirk.

No worries with the 2 types of grease is one gun. Just install the new tube, give the trigger a half dozen pumps until you see the new grease coming out.

Also, I managed to inject the moly into my front u-joint. Only three pumps before I realized what I did, but is it the end of the world? Do I re-load the regular lithium and fill up the front u-joint until the moly comes out?

Holy crap, I'm seeing there's a lot of debate about moly vs non moly.

Debate aside, should I just pump the non-moly into my front u-joint until the moly is spilling out?

In the grand scheme of things, some lube is better than no lube. Just pay attention and use the right one next time you change your oil, I don't think it's a big deal.

I used moly on everything, and I believe other members have done the same

I really don't think it will hurt anything.

Have you read the DS lube reference thread? It's in the tutorial and document reference sticky...

There is lots of debate on the internet, but it really isn't a big deal. Read the reference thread I made, it gives actual background so you can just make your own decision.
