I was aired down to 20 psi. The dirt was pretty soft. I don't know what psi you would have to air down to but momentum was our friend on that hill.

nope just slow and easy and if you do pop a bead just put some starting fluid in there and light it on fire it will pop right on then just add air.

That's all well and good but these rigs are daily drivers for the most part. Slipping a bead means the tire needs to be balanced again. Please don't suggest balancing beads... they are horrible!

do what i do and get the stick on weights not the weights that stick between the bead and rim and your daily driver is now able to wheel and drive home even if you blow a bead just carry a air tank and some starting fluid and youll be good.
watch the mythbusters on this subject they proved it works but you still need air.

i 4 marks my tire and rim with paint marker near the bead and rim that way i just line them up, spray starter fluid, light it, air it up and its all good. no re balance needed

Exactly what I was going to post but then scrolled down and saw your post first haha. Marking the tire and rim with a marker will work great to keep the balance near perfect still; I've done it before.

to the footofgod, you shouldve just punched it on the original hill you tried and showed that 1st gen up!! all you needed was a more speed at the start dont be affraid to use the power the 4runner has its not gonna hurt itself :hatsoff:

with open center diff's front and rear hill climps like these, the only way to do it is with wheel speed and momentum. if you hit the brakes on the hill your done back up and try again. if you try to crawl and start spinning your done back up and try again. I typically run trails in 4lo 3rd or 4 gear A/T taking a hill climb like that in a straight drive i would either start with enough room to shift up to third or work the clutch right to start in 2nd gear get the rpms up an if you can get into third gear you'll walk all over hills.

with that said you can understand why people add lockers to these trucks it turns that said hill into a speed bump to crawl over lol. (check out ARB's website and watch there video's on lockers) but the best thing is you got your 4runners out for some excercise that im sure they enjoyed greatly!

This coming from a guy who's only recent action shot is on a tiny stump in his front yard. Which by the way, he had to use a plywood ramp to get up on. Your credibility is lacking.

Well said!

KidV: When your goal is to get bigger tires to make a 8" tree stump in your front yard your beyatch, you need to get out more! :moon:

lol... He does that just fine without that little hill. FoG has a good rig and puts me to shame on the trails.
