I was told that driving with the low gas light on is harmful to the car because it sucks in the dirt and other small particles that sit at the bottom of the tank. It sounds like it could be true. The reason i ask about this is because i drive often with the gas light on. I dont do it purposely but it happens often (i'd say once per week) nonetheless. Anyone know if this is true?

the low gas light is on to warn ya that you're running out of gas. Just because it's on doesn't mean you will be harming your engine.
These gas tanks comes w/ a reserver built in so need not worry. I wouldn't recommend driving until the gas light is on though. That's more of a safety precaution than anything else.
I do firmly believe that driving until you're literally out is not a wise decision as the gas tanks do build up some gunk on the bottom....
