Driving without front driveshaft on V8 4wd

I drove for over a week with the front driveshaft out and locked in without issue. I even towed my trailer, did some burnouts, donuts, etc. Lol Woodsblaster86 even taking out the front driveshaft your front dif will spin because it doesn't disconnect from the cv axles. It may be ok since it won't have a load on it, but honestly I don't know if anyone can give you a guarantee. Personally I would try, but that's me.

Thanks going to give it a try then drive shaft bolts are seized like crazy but going to get a torch from somewhere and hope to get it off. When it started and when it got worse as I was still on interstate doing about 55 it was shaking wheel violently side to side if I shifted to neutral it completely went away hoping it will be the same when removing the shaft. Thanks for the info

Maybe it's just me and I'm dumb but I did not find it easy to take the front drive shaft off. I had to have the trucks wheels on the ground to break the nuts and then off to spin the shaft to access the nut you can't get. Then back on ground to break that nut free. Then compressing the shaft to remove vast the bolts even with zyrc cutting off. Sounds like you guys are removing the bolts? Mine refused to come out. Did this no less than 3 times while doing transfer case R/R.

So currently I'm out of town about four hrs away from home and seems like my diff needle bearing is shot not drive able if I put it in neutral on highway when it started all vibrations went away. So should I be able to disconnect front driveshaft and use cdl without diff spinning ?

I'm probably missing something, but won't the wheels still turn the diff with the drive shaft removed? Or have you removed the CV shaft, as well?

I think the answer to your basic question "driving without front driveshaft in V8 T4R" is yes, with the CDL engaged, as has been said. However, from the description of your symptoms, I think it's unlikely you'll get rid of the vibration that way, unless it's the front driveshaft that's the problem, and the fact that it goes away when you put it in neutral hints against that.

An alternative would be to find a friend with an F250 or equivalent, go rent a vehicle trailer from Uhaul for $2-300, and flatbed it home. It'd be really easy to do more than $300 damage to the drivetrain if something is still wrong in there.

Driveshaft bolts on fourth gens do not come out I learned... long story short limped it no trailer to a buddy an hr away left it there he started to take it apart and it was a bad cv the inner cv had grenaded he said he pulled the boo back before removing it and pieces fell out.

Only the bolts on the transfer case side, they are press fit into the flange. Pita top game the driveshaft out, but was fun in 2wd!!
