Driving without Skid Plate

Long story short, both skid plates are off my truck right now and I'm supposed to drive a bunch of people from New York to New Hampshire tonight. Unfortunately, I'm still at work and won't have time to reinstall it before I'm supposed to leave. Is it all right to drive without the skid plates or should I make everyone wait around the truck while I reinstall it before leaving?

Mine have been off all winter/spring so I can do various stuffs to the truck and the only problem is now there's nothing to catch the pieces that fall off it.
