DRL day time running lights

Finally!!! I have my 4runner and I could join in all the fun! I just picked it up yesterday and can't stop thinking about it! (It's my first car) Anyway, i have a quick question. Are my day time running lights supposed to be yellow? I thought DRLs are supposed to be just regular colored lights (white). It seems like I'm driving with my parking lights on.

Yup the DRLs on the 4Runner are the yellow turn signals. Its similar to the corvettes or other chevy models. Do a search if you'd like them turned off as its been discussed in great detail already.

Try out your parking lights, they are different. Yes using parking lights while driving is ALWAYS illegal in California. DRLs are legal though.

I think it's illegal because when it's dark it's hard to tell if you're looking at the rear or front of a car, and visibility is not as good as with headlights.

It's probably just one of a million laws that made sense to somebody at some point but that now just serve to generate revenue for the state.
