Drove Though Some Deep Water Today

So, today here in Va Beach, we got a lot of rain in a short amount of time. This naturally lead to flooding in the streets. While out and about, I ran through (slowly) a rather large and deep "puddle". My Runner has been driven a few miles and had multiple stops since, and so far, I have seen no ill affects. Engine seems to run ok. Brakes are ok. A little squeaky, but the squeaks are going away. What should I keep an eye on after going though some deep water?

the squeaks are probably ur brakes building rust. after a few good stops itll go away. it happens when i run thru marsh (salt) water. shud watch out where ur intake on the fender is, u dont want it suckin in water but i doubt that would be a problem

If it was deeper than 20" or so, then i would probably check your rear differential oil just to be on the safe side.

Yeah check your rear diff and change the oil if neccessary. That's the Achilles heal in the T4R for water crossings. Good time and excuse to extend those lines.

Has anyone actually had any problems with their rear diff oil and water crossings? I know I extended my breather just to be on the safe side, but was just curious

I think that it is very important...hell, even Google has a video about it: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=8973547597847260935&q=toyota+truck&hl=en

Here is an example of the breather valve clogged with mud: http://www.fjcruiserforums.com/forums/4x4-off-road-tech/30723-rear-diff-vent-info.html

Here is what can happen, along with steps to change out the oil in the diff:

Very interesting reads.
