Drum brake

My driver side rear brake is seized up. Not completely but a lot. I can't get the drum off. I Tried putting the bolt in the whole, and it just got stripped. Any help?
If there is a thread I can't find it. I'm only on my phone.

There is a slotted hole (that should have a rubber plug in it) on the back plate, toward the top. You will need to use something long and small (an 1/8" allen wrench works) and bush the auto adjuster away from the adjuster barrel teeth. Now, with a screwdriver, turn the adjuster barrel to loosen.

Remove the drum that you can and look at what you need to do.

Same advice as above, and make sure you don't have the e-brake on.

It doesn't sound like this is the issue but drums can rust to the axle. To release this, spray the seam with a good penetrate oil, wire brush the seam, pound on the drum with a deadblow hammer.

I'm taking it to the Truck Shop.
It's officially beyond my repair.

All you really need is two M8x1.25 bolts, thread them in the drum, and use them to push the backing plate off. A BFH works as an aid.

If you are still going the shop route, tell them to put a small amount of anti seize or the like on the back plate before putting the drum back on so it doesn't rust up again.

I'm going to try to convince the parentals that a disc brake swap is a great idea because it is safer and better and only 300 bucks more then what I would pay for someone else to fix the drums.

Someone has to be the guinea pig. I have decent knowledge on brakes, and my family has 4 cars, so if it's out for a while it won't be missed.
