Decided to finally put together a build thread to document the 87 4runner!

History: Bought it from a friend of mine who started building it and ran out of time and interest.
Friend's progress: Bought runner, SAS swap, Rebuild 22RE, other small things..
4" Trail Gear kit
High Steer
5.29 Gears
From the beginning:

Purchased 4Runner around August 2011

Wheeled it some:

New Sliders and Front Bumper from Addicted Offroad!!

Updated pics and heading to Moab to try it out:

Had some issues with the MAF sensor/harness so the 4runner wasn't running very good once we got there...

Got a new harness and got everything running good again!

Can-Back soft top

HID offroad lights

Detroit Spool Locker

Don't really have many pics -- Install Marlin Crawler 4.7 gears

Terrible intake from P/O

Fixed with a few parts from Silicon Intakes in Co Springs

Mount High-Lift and fire extinguisher to roll bar

Prepping body for paint

Used Grizzly Grip Bedliner for paint

Finished up

Up to date now!!

Very cool toy. I'm jonsing for a 1st Gen. I think once I sell one of my 3rd Gens a 1st Gen project will be in the works.

How did you apply th grizzly liner.
My '87 is in need of some paint love and I'm planning on doing it on the cheap.
I have Plasti Dip on the fenders / running boards, which has worked out very well. Thinking about more Plasti Dip for the body, rattle can, or something like this.

Sanded everything down then cleaned all surfaces. Then primer bear metal.. then rolled on about 3 coats
