Dual Air Filters for UZ v8?

I've been looking at the K&N FIPK 63 series here lately, and it reminds me of the setup I had on my old ride, a '95 Grand Cherokee 5.2 v8. I had the dual K&N filter setup, and really enjoyed it. I recognize it sucked in alot of hot air from the engine bay, but reguardless, I liked the "dual K&N" throttle response and air flow when i gave it some juice.

My question is: do you guys think adding by adding a Y pipe to a cold air intake system like K&N and putting on two (yes two) filters next to one another would increase airflow, or hinder it? Besides the fact that it is pulling in air from the engine bay, I just like the sound of two filters sucking air versus one.

Call me crazy, but.....opinions?

IMHO: I would not do it… I do not believe you will have any benefits out of it and as you have mentioned you will be puling hot air from under hood which is not good either…
I also believe that stock air intake is very efficient on 4.7 V8 as it is and I do not believe there is much you can improve without reducing filtering performance of the filter itself… and if you do that you will increase air flow but you also will allow more “dirt” into your intake like any K&N oiled filters \intake setup… not to mention possible problems with MAF sensor.

Just my $0.02.

P.S. after research the only thing I have done for air intake (besides removing carbon filter) is replacing stock filter with AFE Pro-Dry S filter. For the money, quality and slight increase of the air flow I believe it is pretty good mod.

Definitely looking into increased air flow so thanks for the heads up on the AFE filter.
