Dual-Sport motorcycles

Anyone into these ? I'm not sure exactly what they are called , but used to be called "Enduro" or on/off road motorcycles.

They are basically a licenced type of dirt bike , with turn signals, lights ect...usually like 100-600 cc.

I would like to get one but can'y find anything used here,but will keep looking.

Do they still make these type of bikes ?What are they called "offically" ???

I think you are referring to DP (dual purposes) bikes. Kawasaki KLR is a DP.

Yup, they are still around. Take a look at the GS models from BMW. Pretty much the same bikes they run for the DAKAR.

Kawasaki has a KLR650 and I think a bigger version (forgot the cc).

I've heard them referred the same ways, Enduro, Dual Sport, Dual Purpose.

Check out your local craigslist. I've seen some listed in my area.

I bought a Yamaha TW200 this year. Its not very fast, but man is it ever fun!!

The KTM 950 Adventure is one of the best dual-sport bikes.

I have a KLR650. It's officially a Dual Sport bike. An Enduro would be a dirt bike with lights.

If anyone has questions regarding dirtbikes or dual sports, send me an email. I race dirtbikes in the Intermediate class and it's my hobby/obsession.

What sort of riding do you want to do (% road/% trail)? Dirt roads, extreme offroad?

In my opinion, a KTM525EXC with a baja designs dualsport kit is the ultimate dual sport bike as it will go anywhere offroad and can do close to 100mph stock. Not comfortable for extended highway riding though.
