Dueler A/T Revo vs. BFG All terrain T/A

I have narrowed my decision down to the dueler a/t revo and the bfg all terrain t/a. I am not a hard core offroader I go every couple of months, so I am a mostly on road driver. Snow traction is more important to me! It would seem that BFG is a better quality tire than the bridgestone because of the whole firestone thing but not according to tirerack.com, I need some other opinions. Any experiences or opinions on these or any other all terrain tires would be appreciated. Thanks alot

For your uses the Revo would be better.

For you, REVO is better. It has better wear rating and better on-road handling (dry and rain). The only area where the BFG is better is off-roading. In snow, BFG may be better simply because it has the "snowflake" symbol on it...thus, it's rated for heavy snow.

REVO is also cheaper...which makes your choice easier. BFG is a heavier tire, so REVO will provide a slight performance advantage(acceleration and braking).

As far as Firestone disaster, Bridgestone is a different company. Firestone is a US company that was bought out by Bridgestone (Japanese company). Firestone makes cheap tires to compete with other cheap tires...Bridgestone makes more expensive stuff to compete with Michelins & Goodyears.

I have faith in Bridgestone...but i probably trust Michelin & BFG a bit more. (BTW, BFG is owned by Michelin.) Michelin and BFG tires are generally more expensive than everyone else.

I agree with loyd. The BFG AT KO is a quiet tire. In my opinion, it is the quietest AT tire on the market.

Thanks for the info, it helps but I still cant decide. I do alot of driving up to the mountains for skiing and from colorado to arizona and back maybe 2 times a year. Money is not really a factor I just want the best tire. I want to go with the revos because of mainly treadwear and because they are a lighter tire but the BFG's are still appealing for the name and durability. Could anyone with the BFG's comment on what their treadwear was like. The BFG's dont have a treadlife warranty but the revos do. I can understand excessive treadwear if you went offroading alot but what about if you are mainly on the road driver is the treadwear still poor. I want the bfg's but dont want to have to replace them too soon when I could have gotten more out of the revo. This is the only real concern I have left. Any advice or personal experiences will help, Thanks.

LLoyd- what size BFG's were on your 2000.

My BFG AT KO is wearing nicely. I think that mine will last about 45-50K miles. I have heard that BFG AT KO loses it's wet traction near the end of it's life...so i plan to replace before then.

I love my BFG KO...very high quality tire.

I think you are under the mistaken assumption that the Revos are not "tough" off road. I have seen many 4R's on pretty rugged terrain with the Revos. They are tough tires.

On road, where you will be spending most of your time, you will enjoy the Revos more (IMO). The tread pattern is more condusive to ON road performance like rain, cornering on asphalt, etc.

Off road tires with individual lugs (like the BFG's) tend to squirm more on road and be affected by slippery sections like painted crosswalks in the rain. That's why you see BFG "interlocked" the lugs to reduce squirming. That's the trade off for better off road performance.

I am guessing both tires will perform in more rugged terrain than you are will ing to take your truck.

I say go for the Revos. If you did more off roading, BFG's.

as for the name- Bridgestone has just as strong a name as any other including BFG. BFG's are obviously great tires too.
