Dueler H/T OEM 2007 17"

I just got back from a 1000 mi road trip up north and where I had a flat due to what must have been some pretty bad debris on the highway, although it didn't feel like I hit anything. Rear drivers side tire deflated almost immediately and the truck started moving like it was in gusty wind. The TPMS came on quick and I was able to figure out what was going on and pull over.

Long story short, the tire had a 0.75" gash in between the tread on the outside edge. I was able to get it patched, but it looks like it will always be a spare until I get it replaced.

Anyway, I faced with a lack of confidence in the OEM Duelers. I only have 1500 miles on the truck/tires, but I will replace all five if necessary.

Anyone have any thoughts? I'll just buy another Dueler H/T to replace the spare if this was just a freak event. But if I am going to have to worry about being stranded somewhere because of cheap tires, I'll invest in something stronger.

840 Dueler HT?

I had those and they were OK. Like Oklahoma, just OK. They were black, round, and had a hole in the middle. Just don't ask it to corner well, cut through water, grapple with snow, or give good mileage. They were almost down to the wear bars at 27K miles so that gave me a great excuse to toss them. Don't worry, they won't last long so just burn through them and get some real tires later.

Yep, the 840's

My problem is that I'm a low mileage driver. So I may have these tires for 5-6 more years. I guess I can wait it out for a while and see how it goes.

It would be nice to have the option at purchase time to have real tires put on.
