Dum damping question (yes, I'm bored)

I've read folks raving about the damping on the glove box and little useless center console box thingy but am singularly unimpressed with mine.

My glovebox damping mechanism lurches down three times then just drops the glove box the rest of the way with a thunk. Kinda like drunk damping. And the little center console box just falls open but fails to open the last inch - no damping then too much damping.

Frankly I'd rather have no damping than this retarded pseudo damping. Is this really what people are raving about?

It's not a Lexus. The good dampening stuff goes into Lexus...the leftovers go into Toyota.

Well yes and no, the dampening is what people love, however your dampening sounds a little off kilter. Mine is very smooth when it opens and has no thud at the end... I find it quite nice.

I guess that I could take out the little mini glovebox shock and slap some grease around to see if that improves things. This, of course, when I'm bored again!

It seems to have become worse after I changed the cabin air filter and disconnected the glovebox mechanism.

Not sure about the little center console box though. It seems to rely on friction for dampening.

Ultimately I could just go buy a GX470 instead

Just my glovebox. It apparently has been drinking too much and is no longer fully in control of its descent.
