Dumb 4WD SE Question

Are all Sport Editions Full Time 4wd? I've had my '03 for a couple of months now and realized it's a Full Time 4wd (or so it seems)

I'm pretty sure there's a FAQ on this but on the 4th gen, the 4wd system is tied to the engine and nothing else. No matter what trim level, SR5, SE or Limited.

All 4wd V6's have multi-mode 4wd.

All 4wd V8's have full time.

There are 2wd Sport Edition's. Every trim level of the 4th gen 4Runner can be either 2wd or 4wd. And every trim level could be either V6 or V8.

Any 4wd V8 will be a full time 4wd.

A 4wd V6 has selectable 2wd or 4wd.

No, the 2 extra cylinders and cast iron block explain that.

The contribution of the awd is tiny in comparison.

I have a 03 4wd V8. I get 19-20mpg (hand calculated).
My neighbor has a 04 4wd V6 (he keeps it in 2wd). He gets 17-18mpg.

Its all about driving habits and maintenance.
