Dumb cell phone battery ?

I recently purchased a different battery for my Razr.

The stock Moto one is a 3.7v

The Rayovac one ( new one ) is 3.6v 700MAH

They told me at the battery store that the 3.6v is more powerful due to how Moto measures their batterys ( naturally he would say that )

What exactly would the diff. be ? or is it small enough to be insignificant ?? My Moto battery is getting pretty tired from all the charging and long life. The new one was about $15 cheaper and has lifetime warr. exchange , no questions asked , so I though I would try it . Its to hard to compare the 2 as far as talk and standby time since the Moto battery is about a year old and gets charged daily.

Both are Li-ion

I think it will be fine. If the guy at the BATTERY store said it was i would be even more satisfied. Does it say if the battery is made for any specific models? I mean if it fits your razr then the company that made it probably tested it. Should be okay, as i see brands like rayovac selling cell phone battery replacements all the time at the store.

from years of being around cell phone shops and hearing about all the info... I hope you don't charge your phone in your car. if you do, Stop. The super charger type that plug in to the lighter of your car.. its really an emergency only type charger. That will kill your new battery even quicker!

Ahhh shit! This is the ONLY way i charge my cell phone because i usually charge it on my way to work...which can be 3 am in the morning!

Don't worry, unless your using some offbrand cell phone charger "that kinda fits your phone but you are not really sure", NOTHING will be damaged. I'm not sure what "super charger" cell phone car adapter cweta is talking about, but charging a cell phone with a motorola, for example, charger gives you about the same charge time as you would if you plugged it into the wall. I'm sorry if i have never heard of a cell phone "super" charging device, the car adapters are definitely safe though. cweta if you could, link me to one of the dangerous chargers, as you said you probably have more experience than i.

Alt4R , yes the battery is the correct one and works fine. I do have to frequently switch battery's because of running out of time.

I only use the car charger if I have to but my phone has a feature where I can charge it all the way or it will only do an hour at a time. Not used very often , since when the runner is turned off the phone will not charge unless I do the mod.

Basically wondered what the 3.6 vs the 3.7 was for.

ive been dealing with sales/owning TONS of phones, and ive learned that you SHOULD NOT charge your phone overnight, as many people do.

just charge it when it needs it, and when its full, unplug it...charging it overnight leads to the battery wearing out faster...

car chargers are fine if they are the CORRECT one...offbrand ones i would DEFINITELY not recommend using

I agree, but charging overnight won't make that big of a difference in the long run. The extra battery power that gets thrown around when you charge it when you don't need it wont make a big enough difference, who is gonna check up on their cell phone charge every couple hours anyway? In the end it will be to the point where it can barely hold a charge anyway, so if you are that cheap just keep using that 1 hr battery life .

You do have a point about charging it when you don't need to. I know the rechargeable battery in ipods will wear out faster if you charge when you don't need to. For example you run the ipod down to 80% battery and charge it back up to 100% every night even though you could go the rest of the week without it, this weakens the battery life. It's been proven with some graphs and i think the apple website has even put up a graph for the battery life per charge over time. Also it says to "clean" the battery once a month to keep the battery in good shape. That means running it down until the ipod turns off and won't let you do anything (don't worry it doesnt harm it at all)

Even though this is what i have heard on many devices with rechargeable battery, I can tell that doing this to my cell phone battery and my Palm pilot device is not practical at all. My cell phone is also my pager...so, it must be ON all the time. (I guess that if i carry a pager, then it would allow me to do this, but it's such a hassle because i am on-call a lot and hate carrying two things everywhere i go, even in my own home!) My Palm is my real brain, so i need it to be able to function anytime i need it.

I do the above with my electric toothbrush.

Yeah, i left out the part excluding devices like cell phones and other stuff that is always on. I reread my post and understand where you are coming from.
