Dunlops versus Michelins

When I went to the dealer, I noticed that 2003 4Runners have either Dunlop D20s or Michelin Cross Terrains. I know that the Cross Terrains are excellent (I currently run LTX A/Ts and love them). Is there any rhyme or reason to which 4Runner gets which tire. Do they put different brands on the 17 inch rims?

I guess that I will just have to only settle for a 4Runner with Cross terrains. Tire Rack seems to suggest the Dunlops aren't very good.

Pure luck! Yes, Cross-Terrains are better for on-road ride/comfort/quiet. Dunlops MAY be better off-road due to it's more aggressive thread design.

The Dunlops SUCKED! I was afraid to drive in the snow with them when I got the truck in January. Changed over to Toyo A/Ts almost immediately. 100% improvement!
