Durability of lifted 95 4runner

Hello all,

I'm about to purchase my 4th runner I've owned. Right now I wheel/drive an 85 with lift,tires,gears,etc... I'm supposed to pick up a 95 tomorrow, it's got a blown engine I'll have to rebuild. But it has a 4" skyjacker lift with some worn 33"x12.50" swampers.
I was wondering how durrable or rugged these are offroad with a lift and oversized tires. I know it won't keep up with the solid axle of my 85, but will it do okay? In other words, if I take the family out wheeling in the mountains, am I going to be breaking stuff? Any input would be nice, I would like to have a head's up to weaker components that could break---rather then breaking them myself to find out.

I've wheeled mine pretty hard, and it still runs like a champ. MY PICS Go to all my "Wheeling at _______" albums... I was open in all but the Hollister trip.

Yeah, I don't think I'll wheel my 95 anymore severe then your pics of your 93. That's what the 85 is for... But I obviously still gotta wheel the 95, otherwise I would be neglecting it.

Where did you get your grill from??? That looks bad ass!!

I've already been looking at the clear marker/bumper lights. I wanted clear tail lights as well, but it looks like they quit making them, so I also was planning on painting mine red. I painted them black on my 85 end they look good, but the cops don't like them much.

Thanks. The grille insert is a Trenz. I got it from a local shop. Install was pretty involved though. I had to cut quite a bit off with a dremel tool, then sand it all, and repaint the inside black part. It was definitely worth it though, in my opinion at least... The clears are one of my favorite mods on the Runner. Definitely cleans up the forn of it. I was going to go for those clear taillights too, but I can't find them anywhere now. That's why I painted mine. Let me knowif you ever have any questions, and good luck with it. You'll definitely have fun with it.

Yeah, I'm just about done with the Toyota Technician program, so money's tight now, while I'm a student, but I'll be done and working in a couple months. Then the it will be hard to decide on where to dump the money, My 85 or the 95.... I'll probably end up going back and forth. The 95 needs engine and tires, My 85 needs cross-over/high steer... Oh well... Oh yeah, the 95 needs a system, seeing how my 85 has one...
