Duratrac 10ply's ?

Hey all, just wondering if anyone here is running the 10 ply E-rated Duratracs?

There are some locally for $180. Two at 50% tread and two at 80% which is a heck of a deal considering four new are $950.

Plus I run winters half the year so I split mileage between sets.

A lot of people say that the car will ride too rough with such heavy tires but I've also heard conflicting stories. I realise I might drop a mpg or two and I'm cool with that.

I do occasionally haul a trailer, but it's just a smaller cargo trailer, nothing massive.

Anyways, just hoping for some advice from those more knowledgeable than me on the subject. Thanks!

I've never ran E-load Duratracs, but I have a set of E-load BFG's and it's the only regret I have with my ride so far (Just the rating) . It's serious overkill for a DD (in my opinion). They're heavy and super stiff. Single biggest killer of my mpg's and power.

According to Tirerack's specs, in 265/75/16 sizing, there is a 9lb difference per tire between C and E load ratings. That's 36lbs of rotating weight, and it's going to be felt for sure with acceleration, braking, mpg. I've got the C rated Duratracs, and they are much stiffer than the Passenger rated tires they replaced, but feel just right on the truck. Any stiffer, and I think it would be annoying, cause rattles in the truck, etc.

Been researching tires and tire sizes lately, and I'm hearing that 10 ply is WAY too much for a commuter. I'm betting you wouldn't like it. I'm going with the 4ply Dynapro ATM in 265/65R17 for my unlifted 2wd.

I'm in the camp that doesn't mind them. I've got the 285/75-16's. I believe in that size they are only offered in E load. I also got a great deal on them - basically new for less than the 265/75-16's. MPG here has not changed with them on. Still averaging 18.5.

You'll have quite a bit more sidewall compared to a 265/75/16, so that 10ply won't feel as rough in that size. Personal preference really, but I personally prefer the C-load for these trucks.

I have the 265/75/16 E load rated Duratracs and I don't mind them at all. They do ride a bit rough, but my only other comparison is the tires I had before which were street tires. Plus my suspsension is stock as well.

I have the E rated ones and I don't think they're bad. The suspension lift probably softens the harshness of the tires because I've never felt it rode too rough. I'd definitely do it for that price!

I have the C load range Duratracs on mine and I personally wouldn't run the E load range on a 4Runner. But for a good deal price wise, then it probably wouldn't be too bad.

i have the E load Duratracs on mine in 285 and dont mind the ride. i wouldnt say that it rides overly rough. its never bothered me before. for that kind of a deal i would get them.

Ohh no not another load e-range debate........ THey are fine as long as you dont pump them up the 80 PSI max listed on the sidewall.
