Duratrac 285's couldn't pass up!

....Yesterday, with my new-to-me extra set of wheels, I went to Discount to get a set of 265/75's. At the counter, they tell me "we have a set of 285 near-new take-off's in the back [calculates out the door cost] what do you think?"

I've been back and forth between the 285's, 255's, and just 265/75's for a while now, but for $760 out the door with road hazard certs. I could not say no! I spent some time last night making the required pinch weld modifications so we can at least get around.

Compared to mostly worn out 265/75 Michelin's:

Daily driver no-rub stance for the wife...of course with the tire savings, we can apply the difference to some lift!

I paid $900

Crazy thing as I had been shopping for a while. was in Tire factor probably 5 times price checking.

4 days after I got the tires I ran into the owner of the shop with his family, at a local watering hole with good eats. ( I was with mine)

as we were getting ready to pay the bill, the waiter said that gentleman over there covered your bill! :jaw drop: stuff like that never happens to me so WOW is all I could say.

the owner covered my dinner and drinks as a thank you for coming it.

so that $900 was dropped to around $820 or so.

Love the tires so far. was worried I wouldn't get to test them out in the snow. hahahaha, since then Bozeman MT has had 3 differenet snow falls of heavy wet stuff. (4" last night even) testing approved.

enjoy those meats you got there. I stayed with 265-75's for now.

:jaw drop: Damn! That's a hell of a deal! Wait you got 285/75/16 Duratrac's on without spacers or a lift and are able to comfortably drive around???!!!?? Mine wouldn't mount up on the front without spacers for 1, 2 the front still rub when going up the driveway bump or any sort of quick bump they hit the inner well. I'm amazed if you got those to fit and are still able to drive around town! None-the-less good buy!

Thanks guys! Yes, 285's with 99 coils and a 1" body lift, front pinch welds & fender liners pushed out of the way...It's all good for mall crawlin!
I think some camping trips later this spring might help the wife understand why it needs some additional lift!

i got a set of Maxxis bighorns in the 285 70 17 a couple of weeks ago of the local craigslist for $260(70% tread left) and am running them on my stock height 97 SR5 T4R, i have some rub but not bad enough to keep me from off-roading, so you should be good with the 99 tall stance and a 1" BL sweat deal man, the more i see the DuraTracs the more i like them, wasnt the biggest fan at first, but they sure do perform well from everything ive read. congrats man on a great find!! :cheers:
